The heart of Backriver Blends lies in the kitchen of our founder, Jordene Trueh. Growing up in Jamaica, the smell of jerk spices filled the air at every family gathering. Food was how her family stayed connected, and jerk was more than just a meal—it was a tradition.
When Jordene moved to Maine and became a mother, her daughter’s severe food allergies inspired her to recreate those cherished flavors—this time, free from the allergens that posed a danger to her family. Determined to bring the vibrant flavors of her heritage to the table without worry, Backriver Blends was born.
